"I Can Be a Difficult Person": Scottie Scheffler Won’t Touch New Driver Until It Beats the One That Wins

Scottie Scheffler has used the TaylorMade Qi10 driver for most of his wins in 2024 and early 2025.
However, even after testing newer models, Scheffler continues with his current gamer and will only switch once a new driver performs better in competition.
That stance was echoed when Scottie Scheffler was asked about the progress of the new driver at the WM Phoenix Open on Feb. 6, according to quick notes shared via ASAP Sports:
"Yeah, I think we're making progress. I can be a difficult person to get a club in the bag. I'm a little bit adverse to change as it is, and I have got a driver in my bag that's won quite a lot of golf tournaments; had a lot of success with it."

Scheffler put the brand’s new Qi14D driver in play at the Hero World Challenge in December and also used it at his first PGA Tour start of the year at The American Express in California.
"Yeah, for me so far this driver's been a really good fit for my eye, and that's always the first test for me," said four-time major champion about Qi4D last month.
However, during the opening round, he returned to his TaylorMade Qi10, which has remained in his bag since early 2024.
He used that driver while winning six individual titles last season, including victories at the PGA Championship and The Open.
Driver Scottie Scheffler is using at the 2026 WM Phoenix Open
At the 2026 WM Phoenix Open, Scottie Scheffler used a TaylorMade Qi10 driver set at 8.25 degrees with a Fujikura Ventus Black 7 X shaft.
Scheffler followed an opening 2-over 73 with a 6-under 65 in the second round. As a result, he made the cut and extended his streak to 66 consecutive cuts.
After the opening rounds at TPC Scottsdale, he stands at 4-under par and is seven shots back heading into the weekend.
