Ian Poulter Reveals How Majesticks GC Initiative Has Reached Nearly 50,000 Schoolchildren

Ian Poulter has been putting golf clubs into the hands of schoolchildren across the UK for four years.
On Tuesday, the Majesticks GC co-captain revealed that the team's Little Sticks program has reached nearly 50,000 students and is now part of the PE curriculum in more than 300 schools.
Poulter made the remarks at a press conference ahead of LIV Golf UK at JCB Golf and Country Club in Rocester, England, on July 21. He was joined by co-captain Lee Westwood, Sam Horsfield and Laurie Canter. The team is partnering with HSBC on activities for young people this week and will wear special polos on Thursday to mark the programme.

Asked how proud he was of what Little Sticks has achieved, Poulter did not hold back. "Yeah, I think we're all exceptionally proud," he said, according to a transcript by ASAP Sports. "I think when we look back to year 1 and the vision of what Little Sticks could be, we sit here today, and as you say, it's over 40,000 kids, it's closer to 50,000, 300-plus schools that it's in the PE curriculum. That in itself, I think, is a credit to the whole team, Jordan and the team behind the scenes that have built this programme and the vision behind it to try and get golf clubs into kids' hands in the school system."
The program started in 2022 during the Majesticks' first LIV event at Centurion Club. Since then, it has continued to grow and now brings structured golf lessons to schools across the UK through physical education (PE) classes. Support from HSBC has helped the programme reach more schools and provide better resources.
Poulter acknowledged the effort it has taken to embed the programme so widely. "It's been a hard four years to put it into all these schools," he said, "but it's very, very special to be here today. Proud that from a team perspective, Majesticks, I think, have done an amazing job with that. Long may that continue."
For Poulter, the programme's value goes well beyond the statistics.
What Little Sticks Means Beyond the Numbers
The program became more important when someone asked Poulter what he would take away from LIV if the league ended.
"Selfishly, from a Majesticks point of view, when we look at how we've impacted kids in the UK in as many schools. And as many kids as we've put golf clubs in hands, that would be my biggest takeaway. That we've definitely made a difference," he said.
Little Sticks is part of a bigger effort to get more young people playing golf in the UK. In 2025, England Golf said junior membership increased by more than 34%, rising from 46,028 to 61,483.
It said school partnerships and junior development programs were the main reasons for the growth. The Majesticks' Little Sticks program works alongside projects from the R&A and England Golf. But it is run separately through LIV Golf's team system.
Westwood added context on what playing the event at JCB means to the team. "I'm a Midlands lad," he said. "It really is a home game this week." For Horsfield, whose family recently moved back to England from the United States, the week carries personal weight too.
