After adding a seventh PGA Tour title to his resume, you would think Collin Morikawa’s focus would immediately shift to his next start on the course.
While the two-time major champion certainly plans ot do that, he was quite excited about already embracing the next stage of his life as he and his wife, Katherine Morikawa, are expecting their first child.
Collin Morikawa appeared on Dan on Golf on February 16, where Dan Rapaport asked him about becoming a father and what his next chapter in life could look like as he prepares for parenthood.
Responding with humor and honesty, the 2023 ZOZO Championship winner admitted he is still figuring out what lies ahead as he prepares for fatherhood, saying: “I don’t know. We’re going to have to wait and find out. I mean, I’m already putting on the pregnancy weight that apparently husbands get.”

Collin Morikawa and Katherine Zhu met in March 2017 while Morikawa was competing for the University of California, Berkeley, and Zhu was playing golf at Pepperdine University.
As their relationship grew over time, Morikawa proposed to Zhu on November 30, 2021, during a trip to the Bahamas. A year later, the duo tied the knot on November 26, 2022.
Speaking about the changes ahead, and how he is approaching this new phase, Morikawa said, “I don’t think it’s helped me at speed. I don’t think it’s helped me hit shots, but we’re going to find out. You learn on the go, is what I’ve heard. But we’re very excited. So, thank you.”
Morikawa’s excitement was clear as he shared the news following his final round victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Collin Morikawa and His Wife Got Emotional at Pebble Beach
In an interview with CBS's Amanda Balionis, the 29-year-old said, "Put golf aside, we're actually expecting later this year."
"We just started telling people this week. We said, what a better way, the best way to announce to the world if I was able to come out and win," the winner told Balionis.
Meanwhile, Kathrine Morikawa was there at the venue, cheering her husband all the way to the winning putt on the 18th hole.
Katherine later shared on the PGA Tour’s Instagram that she was only able to see Collin’s final two putts because of the crowd and limited cell signal. However, she got to share an emotional embrace with Collin Morikawa after his win.
The PGA Tour pro's rise this season has been astounding. He missed the cut Sony Open in Hawaii and finished T54 at the WM Phoenix Open. Now, he's won at Pebble Beach.
Do you think he'll be able to keep up the momentum? Tell us in the comments.
