The Fitzpatrick brothers have become serious contenders on the PGA Tour this year. The experienced older brother, Matt, expressed his happiness with his younger brother's performances.

Matt Fitzpatrick has been winning on the PGA Tour for some time now. His younger brother, Alex, recently secured his first PGA Tour title alongside him at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

“Well, I have to get used to that now, Doug, because he's had it for much longer than me. I'm probably known as Alex's brother now, as opposed to him being Matt's brother,” said Matt.

Matt admitted that he was impressed by Alex’s performances in recent weeks. Alex was in serious contention to win both the Cadillac Championship and the Truist Championship in back-to-back weeks.

He particularly found Alex’s performance at Quail Hollow Club to be “a testament to how far he’s come.” The younger brother put together a strong display at the Truist Championship.

However, Alex fell short by three strokes to Kristoffer Reitan as he finished fourth. The 27-year-old could not hold onto the one-shot lead he had at the end of the third round.

“Listen, I love talking about my brother. It's an amazing position to be in to have that privilege to talk about how well he's doing. I'd so much rather have these questions, conversations, than the opposite of, you know, why is he not playing well and whatnot,” Matt said.

Matt added that he takes pride in seeing his younger brother succeed at the highest level on tour.

The brothers secured a historic one-shot victory at the Zurich Classic. They combined for a tournament-record score of 31-under 257.

Matt stated that he would always be there for his brother but would instead want him “to make his own decisions.”

Matt Fitzpatrick’s Run Of Form This Season

Fitzpatrick has been in top form this season, with the 31-year-old already registering three wins, including the Valspar Championship in mid-March at 11-under par.

Following that, the Englishman registered back-to-back wins at Hilton Head and TPC Louisiana, taking his PGA Tour win tally to five.

Moreover, Fitzpatrick came close to winning THE PLAYERS Championship, finishing second, one shot behind Cameron Young.

The world number four remains a threat to add more hardware before the season ends.
