No player has won the Meijer LPGA Classic three times since the tournament's inception in 2014, but LPGA star Brooke Henderson has a chance to change that this week. During a tournament press conference, the Canadian golfer said she is excited for the challenge and highly motivated to add another victory at the event.
Henderson, who won the tournament in 2017 and 2019, remains the Meijer LPGA Classic's only multiple-time champion. A victory this week would make her the first three-time winner in the event's history.
“Yeah, very difficult, especially since my last win there has been a few changes to the course. But I think, yeah, it's very difficult, but I'm definitely up for the challenge,” she said.

The event has been the site of several career-defining moments for Henderson. Her 2017 victory came a year after ending Canada's major championship drought at the 2016 KPMG Women's PGA Championship, while her 2019 win made her the winningest Canadian golfer in history.
“But it was just -- I remember being very nervous walking down that 72nd hole and realizing all I needed was par was kind of a huge relief. I took a breath. But this event has always meant a lot to me.”
Brooke Henderson on Building Momentum Ahead of Key Week
Henderson is building momentum at the perfect time, with a strong U.S. Women's Open finish and a 4-under back nine on Sunday giving her a timely confidence boost ahead of a key week.
“It was really nice to get a good finish at the U.S. Women's Open a couple weeks ago. I felt like I could have finished even higher, but was happy to shoot 4-under on the back nine on Sunday and kind of climb up into the top 25 range. That felt really nice,” she said during the press conference.
“I feel like my game is trending in the right direction. Physically, mentally, I feel like I'm getting better all the time and looking forward to a big summer.”
Having her family around is also helping her stay focused, she admits. Henderson credits her cousin, Ryan Henderson, who acts as her caddie, with helping her create a good team and rhythm.
With her game trending in the right direction, Henderson feels ready to chase a third title while drawing motivation from her Dow Impact Award nomination and support system.
