Inside Justin Rose's Winning Bag After His Farmers Insurance Open Triumph

Feb 2, 2026, 6:52 PM CUT

When Justin Rose lifted the Farmers Insurance Open trophy on February 1st, 2026, his clubs told a story of smart adjustments and timely changes at Torrey Pines.

With a setup he assembled just days before arriving at the South Course, he used the TaylorMade Qi4D 7-wood in place of the M6 3-wood.

The M6 3-wood still remained in his golf bag, but he opted to use it instead of the R7 Quad Mini drive. The changes may not be a surprise. Fans know Rose likes to fiddle with his setup often.

During his FedEx St. Jude victory last season, he introduced a brand-new driver without any prior practice. This time, Rose added a TaylorMade Qi4D 7-wood to his bag during tournament week. This club replaced the M6 5-wood he used in Memphis five months earlier.

The change was crucial at Torrey Pines, where Rose tackled the 7,700-yard course with skill. But that wasn't all that he tweaked.

Justin Rose switched to a full Miura iron setup for his Farmers victory. He paired the Miura TC-202 cavity backs for his 4-iron and 5-iron with MC-502 blades from 6-iron through pitching wedge.  This was a change from the Titleist 620 CB long irons he used in earlier tournaments. This combination marked the first win with a full set of Miura irons since 2021.

But most fans don't know that behind these changes are very specific reasons.

Justin Rose Once Revealed His Reasons Behind the Repeated Changes

Back in 2023, ahead of The Genesis Invitational, Rose revealed, "From a professional point of view, obviously you could look at equipment changes, caddie changes, coaching changes, all of those do… make a difference, but you make those decisions thinking you're making a difference in a positive direction."

Since becoming an equipment-free agent back in 2020, Rose has exercised his freedom to use different clubs.

That's why he added, "Obviously with the benefit of hindsight you could look at many of those decisions and think they didn't always take me in the direction I wanted. I kind of feel like when you make a decision or two that don't go your way, you sometimes have to make more good decisions to right the ship. Hopefully that's what I've been trying to do of late…I always believe that I can be a better golfer tomorrow than I am today and I think that's the main motivation that I have."
