For U.S. President Donald Trump, golf is more than a pastime. He's said so himself. Remember the introduction to his 2005 book The Best Golf Advice I Ever Received? He wrote, “For me and millions of people, men, women, young and old around the world, golf is more than a game. It is a passion.”
That love eventually translated into real estate, influence inside the sport, and a personal belief that his performance on the course stands alongside the best. And Trump repeated that confidence during a Thanksgiving Day video call with members of the U.S. Military while at Mar-a-Lago, his private club and residence in Palm Beach.
Asked about his record, he explained, “I won a club championship, beating a 27-year-old kid,” Trump said during the call. “I’m decades older than you, but the fairway doesn’t know how old you are.” And while he's not a pro-golfer, he has had his share of competitive plays.
"You know, club championships are our majors, you know that,” President Trump said. “We’re talking about no strokes or anything else. So I’m a very low handicap, and I’ve won 38 of them legitimately, every one legitimately. It has to be legitimately, because you have a lot of people following you during club championships.” But that's not all.
One video showed him holing a chip from off the green, with the caption: “Winning is always nice!” President Trump even added something for golf fans.
He posted photos and videos from his holiday rounds at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, playing with five-time major winner Brooks Koepka, NHL Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky, and Fox News host Bret Baier.
Now, just a little over a week later, President Donald Trump received an award from FIFA.
President Donald Trump Receives Award During FIFA 2026 Draw
With just little over a year to go for the soccer World Cup's visit to the United States, FIFA held a draw to determine how teams would face off against each other at the Kennedy Center. It would also become the place where FIFA awarded its inaugural FIFA Peace Prize.
As per FIFA, the idea behind the award is, "To reward individuals who have taken exceptional and extraordinary actions for peace and by doing so have united people across the world."
President Trump became the first recipient of the award. In his acceptance speech, he said, "This is truly one of the great honors of my life. And beyond awards."
