PGA golfer Jake Knapp withdrew from the Memorial Tournament on Tuesday. A lingering left wrist and thumb injury will now force the golfer to miss his third $20 million signature event of the season.

Knapp suffered an injury to his left thumb and wrist around RBC Heritage. Since then, the 32-year-old has missed two signature events and a major, the PGA Championship.

On Tuesday afternoon, the official PGA Tour communications team confirmed Knapp's withdrawal from the Memorial Tournament, held at Muirfield Village.

The official PGA Tour communications team also announced that Canada's Sudarshan Yellamaraju will be taking Knapp's place. It will be the Canadian's fourth appearance in a $20 million event this season.

Since the injury, Knapp has withdrawn from several events. He last played at the RBC Heritage, where he finished tied for 74th.

In March, Knapp withdrew from another signature event, Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill. Then, he pulled out of the Cadillac Championship the following month.

In May, he did not feature at another signature event, the Truist Championship. The injury persisted, and he was not present at Aronimink either.

However, no official confirmation has been given by Knapp regarding his withdrawal from Jack Nicklaus' event.

On the other hand, Yellamaraju is enjoying a fantastic season. He stepped onto the PGA Tour through the Korn Ferry Tour and has finished inside the top 10 a couple of times this season.

The T5 finish at THE PLAYERS Championship in March was a commendable performance.

Knapp's Performance Prior To The Injury

Jake Knapp started the 2026 season with strong momentum. He had missed just one cut, at THE PLAYERS Championship.

In his first eight starts, the World No. 40 registered seven top-12 finishes and was in phenomenal form. His best performance came at the Farmers Insurance Open, where he finished T5.

At the RBC Heritage, while dealing with the injury, Knapp shot 2-over par at Hilton Head and ended up with a T74 finish. As of now, that remains his last appearance.

With the U.S. Open coming up, Knapp will certainly hope to feature at the famous Shinnecock Hills Golf Club and return to action.
