Jessica Korda Opens Up on Why Golf No Longer Comes First in Her Life

Jessica Korda is back on the LPGA Tour. After nearly three years away, she's making her return. A new role as a mother has completely changed her perspective on the game she once put first.

In February 2024, she became a mother to her son, Greyson. Since then, her priorities have changed, and she has been open about how golf no longer sits at the center of her life.

"I definitely prioritize my time with my son over golf, so it’s not nearly as exciting as it used to be practicing. I think I was telling Nelly the other day that I was there for literally 45 minutes because I just didn’t have the time," Jessica Korda said at Whirlwind Golf Club on Tuesday.

Korda represented the United States in the Junior Solheim Cup 2009 and the Curtis Cup 2010. At 15, she played the U.S. Women's Open 2008 and finished tied for 19th. She later finished second at the U.S. Women's Amateur 2010.

She turned professional in 2011 after earning status through qualifying school and became a regular on the LPGA Tour. However, even practice time has become limited after her son's birth.

Jessica Korda on How Motherhood Has Changed Her Preparation

"At Grant Thornton, after the first day, Greyson decided not to sleep, so I didn't sleep from midnight to 5 a.m. It adds another variable to golf, to preparation," said Korda.

After nearly three years away, the 2018 Honda LPGA Thailand winner is returning to regular LPGA competition this week at the Ford Championship 2026.

The return did not happen all at once. It started in December 2025 at the Grant Thornton Invitational, where she played alongside Bud Cauley. That event gave her a first step back into competition after her break.

Now, as she moves into a full-field event, the setup around her has also changed.

The Korda family is staying together in a rental house this week, which helps manage both golf and daily life. Nelly Korda is taking care of cooking. Their mother, Regina Rajchrtová, is looking after Greyson and handling the baby monitor.

Because of this, responsibilities are shared. It allows Korda to go to the course, prepare, and play, while her family takes care of things at home.

What do you think Jessica Korda can balance motherhood and a full LPGA comeback?
