Jon Rahm Explains the Change That Improved His Augusta National Performance

Jon Rahm struggled at Augusta this year. However, before the final day of The Masters, he made an adjustment that has improved his game ever since.
The 2023 Masters Champion was never in contention for The Green Jacket this year. He ended up finishing T38 with an aggregate score of +1.
"Yeah, yeah, Adam and I nearly got in a heated argument on Saturday on the putting green at Augusta when he was trying to explain something and I wasn't fully understanding," Rahm said.
Caddie Adam Hayes spotted a flaw in Rahm's game and advised him on the necessary adjustment. Despite the tense exchange, Rahm has followed his caddie's advice ever since.
Rahm said that once he understood what his caddie was trying to say during Saturday’s range session, he played better on Sunday at Augusta and it has gotten easier since, though having a swing thought while playing is not always easy.
Being among the pre-tournament favorites, Rahm began The Masters with a score of 78, matching his worst major championship round. However, as Rahm mentioned, the change worked for him, and he finished the tournament with his strongest round of 68.
The good form remained as he featured at LIV Golf Mexico this weekend.
Rahm’s Comeback With The LIV Win
During LIV Golf Mexico, Rahm admitted that he was still working with his “swing issues.” He had clearly moved on from his Augusta slump.
“If you would have told me last week on Thursday afternoon that I'd be winning by a six-shot margin this week, I would not have believed you because of how bad I played. Hell of an effort, and just what a Sunday," Rahm said after the win.
Rahm was dominant from the start at Mexico City. He finished with a final score of 21-under par, securing a comfortable six-shot victory over his compatriot, David Puig.
LIV Golf Mexico was Rahm’s second win of the season, after his victory at LIV Golf Hong Kong. He overtook now World No. 28, Bryson DeChambeau, in winning the most trophies on the LIV tour with 16.
