Jon Rahm's latest DP World Tour plans revealed after LIV Golf deal

Two-time Irish Open winner Jon Rahm will return to the event in September. With LIV Golf’s future at a crossroads, this decision comes on the back of an agreement he made with the European Tour earlier this year.
As a part of the landmark agreement, the Spaniard is required to play at least five events on the European circuit in 2026. He will be present at next week’s Genesis Scottish Open as well.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Ireland for the Amgen Irish Open,” said Rahm, as reported by DP World Tour. “Winning this tournament twice means a lot to me and it’s always a place I enjoy playing. The courses, the fans and the challenge of links golf make it a special week.”

Earlier this year, Rahm agreed to settle the outstanding fines bestowed upon him by the European Tour. The fines were assessed for his involvement in ‘conflicting events’, as reported by Josh Lees of Bunkered.
However, due to the latest agreement, the Spaniard can now feature at LIV events this year without punishment. He is also eligible to play in next year’s Ryder Cup at Adare Manor.
But Rahm needs to make sure that he meets the minimum event requirement on the DP World Tour this season. Along with him, other LIV golfers had also signed the agreement, notably his Ryder Cup partner, Tyrrell Hatton.
The Irish Open is just one step in the right direction for Rahm, who wants to mend his ties with the European Tour and also wishes to feature at the Ryder Cup.The 31-year-old is already a multiple winner at the event.
Rahm’s success at the Irish Open
Rahm has secured the Irish Open two times, in 2017 and 2019. The 2017 win at Portstewart Golf Club resulted in his maiden DP World Tour title. The Spaniard put up a dominant performance and lifted the title by six strokes.
Two years later, at Lahinch Golf Club, Rahm turned the tables in the final round. He carded a 62 in the closing round that featured eight birdies and an eagle. That was enough for a two-stroke victory over England’s Andy Sullivan and Austria's Bernd Wiesberger.
This time around, he’ll be aiming for his third title against the likes of Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Tyrrell Hatton, Rasmus Højgaard, and Team Europe Captain Luke Donald, who are also confirmed in the lineup, as reported by DP World Tour.
The event is set to take place at Trump International Golf Links Doonbeg from September 10-13.
