Jon Rahm’s LIV Golf future looks increasingly uncertain ahead of 2027

As LIV 2.0 fights hard to materialize, it is highly likely that one of its marquee men, Jon Rahm, won’t be a part of it. Reports link him away from the breakaway tour as the two-time major winner is still owed around $150 million.
Rahm’s future has become a talking point. At the season finale at Indianapolis, the Spaniard was asked about that. The 31-year-old evaded the question with a cheeky answer.
"I'm mainly looking forward to a haircut tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. because I need one badly," Rahm said.

Rahm jumped ship to the rebel tour on the back of a lucrative contract and a massive signing bonus.
Per multiple reports, he’s still owed around $150 million from the multi-year contract he signed in late 2023.
As LIV restructures itself with a new lead investor, reportedly BC Partners, Rahm’s contract looks out of bounds for the league. However, losing the two-major winner would be a huge blow.
“The entirety of our focus is to get to this transaction and get through it. Without the players, that becomes very difficult,” LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil admitted, as reported by Bunkered's Josh Lees.
As per The Telegraph, LIV management has already accepted that the Legion XIII captain will be heading out of the breakaway tour.
If that’s the case, it remains to be seen where the 31-year-old will end up.
As for the PGA Tour, the American circuit isn’t making it easy for the LIV star to return.
No Returning Members Program
Earlier this year, the PGA Tour brought out its Returning Members Program. Rahm was eligible to return through it.
However, the 2023 Masters winner did not follow up on that. Only five-time major winner Brooks Koepka returned home. Now, the PGA Tour isn’t planning to revive that program.
“There’s no current plans for a Returning Member Program like you saw earlier this year,” PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp said at East Lake, as per Golf Channel's Ryan Lavner.
As a result, Rahm’s only way back would be to play a season on the DP World Tour and qualify through the Race to Dubai standings.
However, the Legion XIII captain could also very well stick around with the rebel tour.
