Spain’s Josele Ballester predicted his own record-breaking performance in Virginia after a brief chat with a young fan.

The Fireballs GC star carded a career-best 60 just one day after telling a kid his previous low was a 62. He is currently tied for third, eight shots behind leader Lucas Herbert.

“Actually, I have a funny anecdote. Yesterday while warming up on my way to the driving range, I was signing some autographs to some kids," said Ballester. "One of them asked me what was my best score, and I told them 62. It's actually been a while since I made it. Hopefully sooner or later I'll shoot a low one. One day after, I shoot 60, best round I've ever played. So it's pretty crazy how this game and life works sometimes.”

With his bogey-free 12-under 60, Ballester tied the league record for the lowest round relative to par. The 22-year-old also pulled off the biggest one-round jump in leaderboard position in LIV Golf history.

He only has a year of experience in LIV Golf and has started to become a formidable opponent on the tour. He made his debut in Virginia last year and admitted the struggles he faced in his early days.

“I struggled when I joined. The first few events were pretty bad. I look where I was one year ago, and I'm pretty happy with all the progress and how much better I've gotten,” he added.

The Spaniard currently stands 10th in the individual rankings. Ballester has immensely improved his game under the mentorship of Fireballs GC captain Sergio Garcia.

He has also been coached by Garcia’s father.

Ballester’s Performance In LIV

Ballester has put up some promising performances in LIV.

His first solid performance came in the UK, where he scored 9-under par and finished tied for seventh. That was the event that earned him his only 12 points of 2025 season.

This season, the Castellón-born golfer has started to find his rhythm in the league. A T6 finish in Singapore was followed by a T12 in South Africa.

Ballester’s best result on the tour came at LIV Golf Mexico, where he finished third at 14-under par, and after his record-breaking round in Virginia, he will now look to secure his first LIV Golf title.
