Justin Lower finally made putts on Wednesday, but a lot more happened in his life in the last seven days, including joining a new coach and being concerned about his wife.

Lower struggled on the greens for over a calendar year. However, the 36-year-old started the The Farmers Insurance Open on a much better note, firing a 9-under 63 in the opening round.

But Lower was subjected to questions beyond golf during the subsequent press conference, which he answered happily. After talking about his current performance, Lower highlighted that he was "happy to be out here" after losing his full PGA Tour status at the RSM Classic last year.

Thereafter, the Akron, Ohio-born disclosed that he went through a major change to improve his game. Lower said, "[I've got a] new swing coach, John Scott Rattan. We've worked on a lot and done some changes. We started in the fall and honestly just trying to, just trying to do what he tells me."

Subsequently, the 36-year-old made a personal-life confession, saying, "If I'm being really truthful with everyone, my mind's not really here. My wife is 34 weeks pregnant with twins and I'm just trying to get home on Monday honestly to try to help everything out as much as I can."

When asked if golf was at least serving as a good distraction from the chaos, Lower didn't hesitate. He said "Yes and no. It's just a lot."

Those five words captured everything about Justin Lower's current reality. Wednesday's brilliant round came with an asterisk the size of Ohio attached to it.

Besides his wife being pregnant with twins, Lower also has another kid: a three-year-old daughter. But while every parent wants to witness their kids grow up, Lower's golfing schedule causes him to miss out on watching his daughter grow.

The 36-year-old American highlighted his discontent about the the same and also labeled his daughter his "world" at the end of his press conference.

He said, "I mean, she's my world, for sure. She's getting to the point where she realizing what's going on and that's been the hardest part, just seeing her grow up. I mean, I haven't been home in two weeks now, almost two and a half weeks. She's going to look completely different when I get there, she'll probably look taller. She's already talking more."

While reaching the highest level in professional sports ensures financial stability, it can make players miss out on the precious moments of life, just like Lower said.
