Justin Thomas Once Warned His Mom He’d “Delete Her Number” Over a Text

Almost everyone has had arguments with their mothers, but not many think of erasing them from the phonebook because of that. However, Justin Thomas once approached significantly close to doing so.

Back in 2019, during a press conference at East Lake Golf Club, Justin Thomas revealed that the not-so-positive incident occurred after the Web.com Tour (now known as the Korn Ferry Tour) despite having an exemption to play in the Memorial.

Thomas disclosed that the incident leading up to his warning wasn't really an argument. Instead, a "$40,000" taunt from his threw him off. He said, "I was playing pretty well. I was probably 18th, going into Sunday. And I made double."

He continued, "And I remember like, wow, that cost me. I didn't look it up, that cost me a lot. But I'll never forget I got a text from my mom the next day."

While the 32-year-old had just estimated the amount he lost, his mother specifically reminded him, "That double bogey on 18 yesterday cost you $42,000." Thomas couldn't digest the taunt and warned, "Mom, if you ever send me a text like this again, I will delete your number."

Web.com Tour purses were significantly lower than those of other PGA Tour tournaments, which might have prompted Thomas' mother to highlight the amount he lost.

However, several years have passed since then, and Thomas has earned way more than what his mother taunted him for. With 16 PGA Tour victories, his career earnings currently stand at an estimated $70 million. And he is not done yet.

Justin Thomas Is Eyeing a Return

Despite enjoying significant success in 2025, the year didn't end well for Thomas as he underwent a microdiscectomy in mid-November. He has been out of action since then, but one of his X updates on January 23 indicated that's about to change soon.

Besides discussing his current condition, the 32-year-old also provided an update on his return. He stated, "I’m looking to come back competitively at some point during the Florida swing. I know how important it is to get this injury behind me so that I’m only looking forward over the course of the season."

The Florida Swing is set to start with the Cognizant Classic at the end of February. After that, there’s the Arnold Palmer Invitational, THE PLAYERS, and the Valspar Championship.

So, Thomas seems to have ample time to plan a proper comeback. However, do you think he will be able to continue his dominant run from 2025 after returning?
