Justin Thomas Sends Strong Comeback Signal After Back Surgery Clearance

Sixteen-time PGA Tour winner Justin Thomas has been officially cleared to resume all golf activity.

Justin Thomas shared an update via Instagram on February 10, confirming the update on his current playing status.

“After some follow-up imaging and meeting with my Dr and team, I’m officially cleared for all golf activity! It feels great to be swinging freely again and getting some reps in on the course.”

Thomas underwent back surgery on November 13, 2025, after a herniated lumbar disc led to hip pain that persisted for several months.

As the issue continued, he experienced discomfort and felt excessively arched at setup, which he later traced to a disc problem on his right side.

The 2025 RBC Heritage winner added,“I’m working hard to build up my strength and stamina to get back into golf shape before competing on @pgatour. Can’t wait to get out there with the guys! LFG”

Thomas did not set a specific timeline for his return to competition. However, he mentioned last month in January that he was considering the Florida swing on the PGA Tour.

That stretch begins with the Cognizant Classic, scheduled for February 26 to March 1. Thomas has a strong connection to the event, previously known as The Honda Classic, where he won in 2018.

In the meantime, Justin Thomas appeared on the sidelines during the 2026 TGL season.

Justin Thomas did not compete on February 2, but he remained visible during Atlanta Drive GC’s Week 6 TGL matchup against Jupiter Links GC, led by Tiger Woods.

Still recovering from offseason back surgery, Thomas attended the match to support Billy Horschel, Chris Gotterup, and Lucas Glover as Atlanta entered the night unbeaten.

During the contest, Thomas appeared on the sidelines in a leadership role, wearing team gear and participating in on-course communication.

He was frequently seen alongside Tiger Woods, who was also present in support of his team, Jupiter Links GC.

At one point, Thomas took several practice shots for the spectators in attendance, offering a glimpse of his progress ahead of his medical clearance later in the month.

The matchup concluded with Jupiter Links GC defeating Atlanta Drive GC by a score of 8–6.
