LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil sent a memo to players and staff on Wednesday about the league’s plans for 2027 and the progress of its investment talks. On the same day, another report said that new funding may finally be on the way.
According to Flushing It’s post on X, he sent the internal email on Wednesday, July 30, 2026. The memo talked about two main topics: the progress of investment talks to support the league after 2026 and the early planning for a new 2027 season.
When talking about investment, O’Neil spoke carefully but clearly.
"I remain encouraged by ongoing discussions with potential investors, and we continue to work diligently toward an investment that supports LIV 2.0," he wrote, per the Flushing It post.
Speaking about LIV Golf’s investment talks, CEO Scott O’Neil said he is still optimistic about finding new investors. He explained that discussions are continuing and that LIV is working carefully toward an investment deal that would support the league’s next phase, known as LIV 2.0.
The New York Post reported Wednesday that LIV is "on the cusp" of landing $250 million or more, with "multiple written commitments from blue-chip investment firms that would serve as anchor investors to support the league," per NUCLR Golf's X post citing the report.
The memo said that LIV Golf has already started planning for 2027, no matter when the investment deal is completed. O’Neil said the league is creating a strong schedule in its most important markets, working on a more sustainable way to run events and operations, and focusing on business opportunities that can create long-term growth.
He added that more details would be shared with a wider group by late August. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund has invested about $5 billion to $8 billion in LIV Golf since it started in 2022, and it said in April that it will stop funding the league after the 2026 season.
LIV officials want to complete the investment deal by September 1. The league hopes to raise $300 million, but LIV could continue operating with $250 million.
One more detail from Wednesday's memo: the Team Championship situation.
Flushing It followed up the memo post with a second note on X: LIV has delayed announcing the cancellation of its team championship. But no reason was given for that.
O’Neil’s memo did not mention any cancellation. Instead, he asked staff to stay focused on the Bedminster event next week and on planning for the Individual and Team Championships as LIV Golf works to finish the 2026 season successfully.
LIV Golf has hired restructuring experts AlixPartners and Ducera Partners to help reduce the tour schedule from 14 events to 10, starting in 2027.
According to a New York Post report cited by NUCLR Golf, important meetings with potential investors are planned before the Bedminster event.
