Lee Westwood Gets Honest About Still Competing After Nearly 30 Years

Two-time PGA Tour winner Lee Westwood has spent more than three decades in professional golf, and the journey is still going.

Lee Westwood turned professional in 1993 and earned his first victory three years later at the Volvo Scandinavian Masters. That win came in a playoff and marked the start of a long run on the global stage.

Reflecting on the length of his career, Westwood addressed what the moment means to him. Speaking to Rachel Drummond during an interview on Saturday, shared by LIV Golf on X, Lee said:

"Well, I think it's just validation that, you know, all the hard work I've been doing through the winter and the drive, and that I've still got ambition. I'm still all there, and it's still at a level where I can compete. Regardless of what happens today, really, you know, I've got myself into a great position."

Over the course of his career, Westwood has recorded 44 professional victories across tournaments held on five continents. His wins span four different decades, beginning in the 1990s and continuing into the 2020s.

Now 52, with his 53rd birthday approaching in April 2026, he continues to compete against younger players and has just hit a new milestone.

“Well, it shouldn't differ too much, really. It shouldn't really differ too much from yesterday and the day before, and every other day you tee it up," Westwood had said about how he plans to approach the final.

Westwood entered the final round as a co-leader at 10-under. However, it was Bryson DeChambeau who walked away with the win at LIV Golf Singapore. While DeChambeau hit his drive in the water, he birdied the par-5 18th for a 5-under 66 and won.

Meanwhile, Westwood closed at 70 behind DeChambeau and LIV wildcard Richard T. Lee. He ultimately finished in third. Although he didn't win, that result was still his best finish in LIV so far.
