Lindy Duncan Highlights Subtle Conditions Shift That Made Putting Far More Nerve-Wracking

The LPGA Ford Championship has been full of headlines. From Lydia Ko’s “almost” record-breaking round 1 to Hyo-Loo Kim’s new record breaking 54-hole score, one might assume the conditions would be ideal for the golfers.
However, Lindy Duncan, ranked 38 in women’s golf, had another opinion.
“Yeah, a lot of the tee shots played differently, so there were some different clubs going into the greens, whether that was longer because the hole was into the wind or a little bit shorter because it was downwind.”
Duncan, currently 11 strokes behind the leader, Kim, would be willing to improve on her 5th rank finish at the inaugural Ford Championship last year.
“And the greens being as frictionless as they already are I was a little nervous about the putting today more so than even the ball striking," she said.
After a T42 finish at the Fortinet Founders Cup, Duncan has been comparatively consistent in the championship. Two back-to-back rounds of 66 (-6) took her to the Top 10.
“if you get on the wrong side of the pin and you're downwind you're just tapping it and hoping you don't get a gust or misjudge the break and it goes an extra six feet.”
Duncan herself faced this situation at hole 7. Her aim was to hit into the wind and uphill. It was a shift from the usual.
“yeah, definitely played different.”
What did Lindy Duncan say about Drive On?
“Fans connect with sports in a lot of different ways today, but what consistently draws them in are great stories,” said LPGA Chief Marketing Officer Chad Coleman.
Lindy Duncan was the first golfer to be featured on the Drive On presented by Ford, a new storytelling series.
“Yeah, I'm really happy. I felt like sharing that was a lot of fun for me. I got to work with a lot of you guys at the LPGA, and it's been so much fun," Duncan shared. “In one of the most important moments of my career, I made an eight. An eight.”
"The Eight That Changed My Life," was the title of the episode.
Duncan’s commitment, professionalism and persistence was the pivot of the episode. The show intends to grow the reach of women’s golf.
