One of soccer’s greatest, Lionel Messi, will feature at his sixth World Cup, starting from this week. To celebrate the Argentine’s success, Adidas has released a new shoe in his honor.
The 2022 WC winner has been a longtime ambassador for Adidas, and the sportswear company has made sure to showcase its support for the soccer player by releasing the first-ever Messi-inspired golf shoe.
“For the next month, the world will be captivated by the FIFA World Cup stage," says adidas' Jeff Lienhart. "We want to celebrate this moment, and Lionel provides us with a great opportunity to do so. We partnered with our team in football (soccer) to create something special for the course that combines the best of adidas Golf and adidas Football.”

The limited-edition golf shoe celebrates Messi as the Argentina captain heads to the FIFA World Cup to defend their title.
The shoe combines elements of Messi’s ‘El Último Tango’ F50.6 TUNIT football boot and adidas’ CODECHAOS golf shoe.
The shoe will be available from June 17 on adidas.com and at select retailers while supplies last.
The iconic shoe features a microfiber leather upper with golf-specific enhancements. To provide stability and control to golfers, there’s a new AXISLOCK stabilizer in the heel and midfoot of the shoe.
The classic TWISTGRIP on the outsole provides golfers with enhanced grip and immense stability during their swing. Full-length BOOST cushioning has also been incorporated to add extra comfort.
The colour of the footwear resembles Argentina’s national soccer team kit, and the shoe also includes Messi’s signature logo.
The shoe came with a special launch campaign.
CODECHAOS’ Special Launch Campaign
Adidas also leaned into Messi's "GOAT" status when designing the launch campaign.
Adidas travelled to Silvies Valley Ranch in Oregon, home to the resort’s famous goat caddies. It is a part of its sustainable goat farming operation.
Moreover, the goats have been trained to act as caddies on two of the ranch’s famed golf courses.
Interestingly, the photos also included soccer-themed golf balls inspired by the FIFA World Cup. However, adidas has confirmed that they were specially manufactured for the campaign and will not be sold separately.
With the World Cup underway, the release is likely to draw interest from both soccer and golf fans.
