LIV Golf faced a major blow a week ago, on December 23, when Brooks Koepka stepped away from the circuit. Now, speculation has grown around Bryson DeChambeau, whose contract runs through the 2026 season. Yet, it's not all bad news.

Despite losing multiple golfers, including Henrik Stenson, Anthony Kim, and others, the Saudi-backed league is about to get bigger.

“LIV Golf is committed to moving the sport forward by expanding opportunity and access,” LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Malley said.

The circuit announced on December 30 that its regular season field will increase to 57 players, and a third qualifying place has been added to LIV Golf Promotions as entry routes expand for the 2026 league.

So, from January 8 to 11, 2026, 83 players from 24 countries will compete at the Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Florida, in the third LIV Golf Promotions.

Participants include former top-50 players, Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup players, and winners on the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Asian Tour.

“We are opening pathways, creating more chances for top talent to compete in the world’s golf league. Adding another qualifying spot strengthens our field and adds excitement to a season built on opportunity, competition, and growth,” added  LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Malley.

Scott Vincent (Zimbabwe) and Yosuke Asaji (Japan) have already earned thier spots in the league as the top two players in the 2025 International Series. Those who place in the top three of LIV Golf Promotion will join Vincent and Asaji.

That being said, losing one thier biggest stars will still hurt despite the roster expanding.

Bryson DeChambeau on his LIV Golf extension

Speaking with Tom Hobbs of Flushing It Golf on December 28, 2025, Bryson DeChambeau confirmed that discussions regarding his contract are in progress.

“I mean, look, it's confidential. I’m not going to share too much, but the conversations are in process," said DeChanbeau. "We have to get to a place where both parties have a good understanding of one another. It is getting to a place that makes sense for both sides," he added.

However, in the same breath, Bryson DeChambeau also hinted that the deal isn't close to getting finalized. "I think that can happen, but you never know. Life throws curve balls," said the golfer.

So, it seems only time will tell if LIV expands, while managing not bleed out any more talent.
