LIV Golf star Tom McKibbin expects breakaway tour to continue next season

Despite uncertainty around LIV's future, LIV golfer Tom McKibbin has years remaining on his contract. The Northern Irishman is expecting the rebel tour to continue beyond 2026.
The PIF’s withdrawal has left LIV golfers questioning the breakaway tour’s future. However, McKibbin looks to respect his contract and continue on the rebel tour.
"There are obviously a lot of things to figure out, and I know they are definitely trying their hardest," he said. "As far as I am concerned, I've got a couple of years left.”

The Northern Irishman joined LIV in January last year, and forwent his PGA Tour card to do so.
Earlier this year at the PGA Championship, McKibbin claimed he had no regrets with his decision.
However, at LIV Golf Indianapolis, McKibbin walked out to "Breaking Free" from High School Musical, which raised some eyebrows. Now, he has cleared the air.
LIV’s future relies on the completion of the transaction by their new lead investor, reportedly London-based private equity firm BC Partners, before the September 1 deadline.
Before the year ends, the 23-year-old has a lot of golf to play on the European Tour.
“At the same time, I am going to play as much as I can over here [on the DP World Tour] until the end of the year and then see what happens,” he added, as reported by Irish Golf Desk's Brian Keogh.
As LIV Golf aims to secure a future without the PIF, McKibbin’s focus will be on the DP World Tour's Back 9.
The Irish sensation will certainly be eyeing a spot in Luke Donald’s Europe team.
Ryder Cup qualification campaign begins
As Team Europe captain Luke Donald looks forward to being the first captain to win three consecutive Ryder Cups, McKibbin would want to lead him there in his nation.
"That would be pretty special," said McKibbin, as per Belfast News Letter's Martin Dempster. "To play a Ryder Cup in Ireland would be a bucket-list thing to do. Yeah, I'll definitely give it my best shot."
McKibbin was among the eight DP World Tour members permitted to feature on the rebel tour earlier this year.
As a result, he takes part in the qualification campaign for a spot in the European Ryder Cup team, which begins this week.
However, the deal stands only for this year, and if LIV lives to see another season, then that could turn out to be a problem for McKibbin.
At the moment, featuring at Adare Manor for his nation looks to be his No.1 priority.
