“LIV’s Been Really Good to Me,” 2x Major Champion Opens Up Despite Recent Turmoil

Dustin Johnson is not concerned about LIV Golf's recent turmoil.
While critics point to player exits, the two-time major champion offered a blunt response. His comments paint a different picture of the league's stability and his commitment to it.
Things now appear more settled. LIV Golf has finalized its 57-player lineup for the 2026 season, and Dustin Johnson remains part of the field.
When asked about the turmoil during Dan on Golf, Season 2, Episode 4, Johnson was direct. “I don’t really care, to be honest,” he said.
“I’m enjoying where I’m at right now. I still have the drive to be one of the best golfers in the world and compete every single week, no matter where I’m playing. But I like playing right where I’m at. LIV’s been really good to me.” he added.

Well, Johnson’s comments landed at an interesting time, especially after Rory McIlroy’s blunt remarks about the league. One of LIV Golf’s strongest critics, McIlroy, recently said in Dubai that the league is no longer attracting exciting, game-changing players.
According to McIlroy, LIV hasn’t signed anyone recently who truly excites fans or shifts public perception. But Johnson doesn’t see it that way.
“I’m playing here for the first time. I’m excited about it, obviously, to get my year started,” Johnson said. “I like the games, and it’s been pretty good.”
And to be fair, LIV Golf did make changes in response to last season’s struggles.
What LIV Golf Tried to Fix?
Last season didn’t go as planned. Six players were relegated due to poor performance. Brooks Koepka, one of LIV’s biggest names, left and returned to the PGA Tour. Three more players also lost their spots.
But the league responded. LIV Golf rebranded parts of three teams and added new players, including Thomas Detry, Victor Perez, Laurie Canter, and Michael La Sasso. It also introduced 12 new faces to the league, more than it added last year.
While these signings may not be headline-grabbing superstars, they represent solid talent and added depth. For Johnson, that seems to be enough. He’s comfortable where he is, and for now, firmly committed to LIV Golf.
