Lottie Woad Sends Strong Message After Disappointing Solheim Cup Partnership

Europe’s star pairing, Charley Hull and Lottie Woad, have not really worked out as a duo at the Solheim Cup. However, all that matters for Woad is that her team comes out on top.
On Friday and Saturday, Woad and Hull featured in all four foursomes and fourballs sessions together. All they could secure was half a point. Woad wasn’t letting that affect her mindset.
"Doesn't matter who wins the points," Woad said ahead of Sunday. "I would happily lose my matches if we win."

The half point was secured by the duo in their Friday afternoon fourballs match. The other three ended in defeats of 4&3, 6&5 and 1 down.
Moreover, Woad and Hull's performance etched an unwanted place in Solheim Cup history.
Out of the 43 competitors to ever play all four team sessions in a single edition, the European pairing are the first two not to earn a full point, as reported by Golf Channel's Brentley Romine.
In fact, Hull has previously stated that she’s not a team player.
"I am a very individual player," Hull said in April. "I'm going to openly say this, like, I'm not a team player. Like, I'm not, so it's very hard for me to be in a team environment."
Despite the European duo failing to cross the line, Captain Anna Nordqvist opted not to bench them or break them up.
Heading into Sunday's 12 singles, Team Europe and Team USA were tied at 8-8. The pair had the chance to redeem themselves.
Sunday's chance for redemption
The Saturday foursomes might not have worked out for Woad and Hull. However, finally, in Sunday’s singles, it did.
"Felt like I was playing good golf and not getting the points and felt like I was kind of letting everyone down," Woad said, per LPGA's Amy Rogers. "Ends up I got the winning putt."
Woad beat Auston Kim 2 and 1 to clinch the Solheim Cup title for Team Europe on her debut.
On the other hand, Hull set the stage by winning the first match against Megan Khang 3 and 2.
Team Europe won the Solheim Cup 15-13, and Woad and Hull were able to put the unwanted record behind them.
