LPGA Player Opens Up About Her Experience Inside the TV Booth During Coverage

Apr 15, 2026, 8:00 PM CUT

Alison Lee went in thinking TV would be the easy part, but it didn’t take long to realize how demanding it actually is.

In Las Vegas, she spent the week in the booth at the Aramco Championship, working alongside Grant Boone after reaching out to Golf Channel herself.

"It was nothing like I thought it would be," Lee said, according to Golfweek. "I thought it would be a lot easier, and it was a very difficult job."

Golf knowledge wasn’t the issue; the challenge was live TV, with producers in her ear and constant decisions on timing and when to speak or defer to Boone.

"It's just knowing when to speak," Lee said. "Knowing how much time I had to speak."

She practiced daily before going on air, with help from Boone and Tom Abbott, and seeing her son Levi recognize her on TV made it all worth it.

"Grant Boone, next to me, really helped and guided me through the whole process," she said.

She laughed about one thing: nobody came up to tell her she was terrible.

Alison Lee Has Two Goals Driving Her LPGA Return

Lee makes her first LPGA start of 2026 at the JM Eagle LA Championship, with one clear goal: winning on tour for the first time despite past success on the Ladies European Tour.

The other is making the U.S. Solheim Cup team for a third time, having been part of the 2015 and 2024 squads. Captain Angela Stanford is leading the selection for the 2026 team. Lee isn’t banking on her history to do the talking.

"I'm not expecting any special treatment from Angela," she said. "She knows that. I want to be able to earn my spot."

Getting back hasn’t been easy. Lee has battled a month-long cough, her son Levi isn’t sleeping through the night, and her parents have stepped in this week so she can finally get some rest at the tournament hotel.

Five or ten years from now, she said, TV could be a real conversation. While that remains a future goal, her current focus is on the leaderboard.
