Marco Penge is making his comeback on the DP World Tour at the BMW International Open after a seven-week absence. However, the Englishman believes that he has not totally recovered yet.

Penge’s health crisis started last November at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. He suffered a viral infection and experienced recurring symptoms. Now, with the help of treatment and specialist advice, he is back.

"I'm feeling a lot better than when I stopped playing. I wouldn't say I'm 100%, but definitely 90% of the way there. At least know what was going on and have got some things in place if I start to feel a little worse again. I’m happy to be back,” said Penge according to DP World Tour's X Post.

Penge will play his first event since the PGA Championship in mid-May. Following that, the Englishman took a break and intended to come back at the U.S. Open.

However, the diagnosis of his health issue still had not been completed, and thus he opted out of featuring at Shinnecock Hills.

At the moment, the 28-year-old is in a much better position to compete.

"To be honest, it's hard to have expectations because I don't really know where my game is at. But after playing today in the Pro-Am, I was really impressed with myself and really pleased with how I played.I feel like it's probably the best I've played all year and the most comfortable I felt all year,” Penge added.

A strong field awaits the Englishman at Golfclub München Eichenried. Several LIV Golf stars are in the lineup, such as Victor Perez, Sebastian Munoz, Sergio Garcia, Joaquin Niemann, and also former LIV man Patrick Reed. 

It will be a tough test for Penge on his comeback. However, he does know a thing or two about winning on the DP World Tour.

Penge Reflected On His Winning Record On The DP World Tour

In 2025, Penge took the DP World Tour by storm. He secured all three of his wins on the European Tour last year.

"This week's actually the first week where I've kind of been able to realise what I actually achieved last year... I feel really respected. When you get that feeling from your competitors and other players, it kind of makes you think, and you realise what you actually achieved,” said Penge, as shown on DP World Tour's X Post.

The Englishman’s first win came at the Hainan Classic last April. With a score of 17-under par, Penge won the title by three strokes over the US’ Sean Crocker and Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan.

Then in Denmark, the 28-year-old won the Danish Golf Championship by edging Rasmus Højgaard by a shot.

Lastly, Penge secured the Open de España in October after an intense playoff against fellow Englishman Dan Brown.

At the BMW International Open, Penge will look to add to his win tally. However, that will be a tough task considering his health and the break he took.
