After more than a decade as a professional golfer, Matt Fitzpatrick has won one U.S. Open title and two RBC Heritage wins, earning $41.08 million on the PGA Tour, according to Spotrac.
Fitzpatrick has built one of the most consistent careers in modern golf. But his journey has not been easy. In 2015-16, he earned only $41,934 on the PGA Tour. Even though he was already winning titles in Europe, he was beginning in the U.S. By 2016-17, he earned $176,181, showing steady improvement.
His breakthrough came in 2018-19, when he earned $1.09 million, marking his first season to cross the one-million mark.
In 2019-20, he earned $2.29 million, including a $181,000 bonus from the Tour Championship. By that time, his total career earnings had gone over $5 million for the first time. But the main turning point in his career was yet to come.
Matt Fitzpatrick’s Career-Turning 2021-22
The 2021-22 season turned the tide for Fitzpatrick, as he won the 2022 U.S. Open at The Country Club in Brookline, the same course where he had won the U.S. Amateur nine years earlier. He earned $3.15 million from that victory alone.
He also got a $5 million Player Impact Program (PIP) bonus and $715,000 from the Tour Championship. This brought his total earnings for the season to $12.83 million, and his career earnings crossed $20 million in that same year.
