As the Cadillac Championship returned to Doral, America’s Michael Kim put up a commendable performance at the Blue Monster course.
Kim took to X to share his views on Doral, tournament winner Cameron Young, and the city of Miami in a recent X post.
“I know many complain about how boring of a course Doral is on TV, but playing it is definitely different. I thought it was a serious and unique challenge with the number of hazards in play and green designs. 18 is an absolute monster. Holes like 11, 14 were very good, I thought,” said Kim.
The Cadillac Championship returned to Doral for the first time since 2016. Originally the Doral Open, the Blue Monster has always been a challenging course for golfers to compete on.
Kim finished tied for 18th with a total score of 7-under par. The 32-year-old stood out in the third round, posting his lowest score of the tournament, a 65.
“A little unfair that Cam got to play the other course for 4 days and won lol,” Kim added.
Cameron Young put up a dominant display with a wire-to-wire victory. Kim and the rest, including World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, could not come close to the 28-year-old, who won by six strokes.
It was Kim’s first time in Miami, and like most visitors, he found it “cool” and complimented its food. He specifically mentioned Cote Miami as being “stellar.”
Kim's Run Of Form This Season
Michael Kim has been a consistent contender on the PGA Tour, finishing regularly in the top 30.
The now World No. 41 produced his best result at the Valero Texas Open, finishing tied for second alongside Robert MacIntyre and Matt Wallace, just one shot behind J.J. Spaun.
“I’ve put up the low round of the day twice in the last two signature events, which is def something. Hopefully I can string something together for an entire week in the next couple weeks!” Kim stated in his X post.
His T18 and T25 finishes at the WM Phoenix Open and RBC Heritage also had good moments, but he failed to capitalize on them.
After winning his first European Tour event at the Open de France in September 2025, Kim will certainly wish to get his first victory of 2026 in the events to come.
