Nelly Korda Officially Returns to No. 1 in World Golf Rankings For Seventh Time

EVIAN-LES-BAINS, FRANCE - 10.07.2025: Nelly Korda USA of The Amundi Evian Championship at the Evian Resort Golf Club on July 10, 2025 in Evian-les-Bains, France.

Nelly Korda regained her World No. 1 ranking for the seventh time after her dominant victory at the Chevron Championship this weekend.

Korda held a five-shot lead at the start of the final round. Eventually, she finished with a score of two-under 70, maintaining the advantage over Thailand's Patty Tavatanakit.

"I feel very relieved after what I felt mid-round, the nerves of holding that lead and the golf course," said Korda, "and I just feel so happy."

The Chevron Championship was Korda’s third major and 17th victory on the LPGA Tour. For the first time since August, she regained the No. 1 ranking.

In the last 50 years, only Juli Inkster and Amy Alcott had won LPGA majors while leading by multiple shots in each round. With this win, Korda has now joined them.

Korda took the lead on the 16th hole of the opening round after hitting a five-iron to five feet for a birdie.

"I want to go out and play golf. Whatever happens — if I jump into that pond, if I have the trophy in my hands at the end of the day — then great. I gave it 100%. If I don't, then I have next week," Korda said.

She overtook Thailand's Jeeno Thitikul, who had held the No. 1 ranking in the Rolex Rankings since August 4, 2025. Overall, Korda has spent 108 weeks at the top spot throughout her career. Her longest streak was 71 weeks, from 2024 to 2025.

Korda's dominant early-season form suggests she will be the player to beat in upcoming tournaments.

Korda’s Strong Start to the Season

Korda's 2026 season is going strong as she has yet to finish outside of the top two.

She had two consecutive second-place finishes at the Fortinet Founders Cup and the Ford Championship, finishing behind South Korea’s Hyo Joo Kim, after winning the season-opening Hilton Grand Vacations TOC in Orlando.

She opted out of the JM Eagle LA Championship after a T2 finish at the Aramco Championship, and eventually won the season’s first major on April 26, 2026.

Interestingly, Korda is just five points away from qualifying for the LPGA Hall of Fame.
