"No Comment": Scottie Scheffler Dodges Important Question With a Long-Winded Answer

via Usta

Scottie Scheffler finished tied for 24th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. It marked his lowest placing in more than a year, and now the golfer isn't keen on divulging his process ahead of The Players Championship.

With Scheffle testing a new driver for the past few weeks, reports asked whether he would continue using it. "Is it an uncomfortable time of year to be working on something like that?" added the report at the March 10 press conference.

"I mean, not really. I think you're always kind of looking for ways that you can get better... I think when you look at the driver, I think there's always a little things you can do to improve, but you got to toe the line, I think, between improving and sticking with the stuff that also works really well," said Scheffler.

He continued explaining how he sees a new piece of tech as something he may be able to utilize on the green. However, when his explanation didn't really answer the reporter's question, he asked again.

"That was a really long-winded way of saying no comment. I don't know if you could pick up on that," Scottie Scheffler responded with a laugh.

Scheffler first tried the TaylorMade Qi4D driver toward the end of 2025 before returning to the TaylorMade Qi10 driver at the start of the new season, including his win at The American Express in January 2026.

As the schedule moved toward The Players Championship, he continued working with both options while evaluating which setup fits his game this week.

While Scheffler avoided confirming his decision, he did speak about the process of testing new equipment.

Scottie Scheffler Discusses Equipment Balance While Testing New Driver

During the press conference at The Players Championship, two-time defending champion Scottie Scheffler addressed the question about his driver setup and whether this part of the season is unusual for making equipment adjustments.

He said players are always looking for ways to improve, so testing equipment is part of that process.

The 2025 Open Championship winner noted that golfers must balance improvement with stability because changes that add speed or distance can sometimes affect other parts of the game, such as iron control or distance management.

Scheffler also said the new driver has produced more consistent spin numbers and slightly more speed, which, in theory, could help improve accuracy.

However, the two-time masters winner explained, “But I'm a guy that shapes the ball and does a lot of different things, and so sometimes those little differences can be a bit of an adjustment for me, and so a lot of that I'm still kind of working through, if that makes sense.”

Will Scottie Scheffler change his driver ahead of The Players Championship? What do you think?
