“Nobody Else Has to Believe in Me but Me”: Anthony Kim’s Emotional Confession After Stunning Comeback

You will rarely see a more inspirational comeback than Anthony Kim.
He won a professional golf tournament 16 years after his last win, probably one of the longest gaps ever recorded.
Following his LIV Golf Adelaide victory, Kim delivered an emotional speech talking about his comeback.
“For it to actually happen is pretty insane,” Kim said. “I just want to thank all the people that have supported me.”
Kim further added that the most important thing that motivated him to return and win: “I was able to, to produce some good golf today, and I knew it was coming. Nobody else has to believe in me but me. And, for anybody that’s struggling, you can get through anything.”
Kim's journey to stardom hasn't been easy. In 2012, he suffered a career-ending Achilles Tendon injury. While he was expected to make his comeback after 9 to 12 months, Kim never played in any professional tournament.
In those 12 years away from golf, Kim faced a lot of substance struggles. In his interview following his win, he stated it was all possible because of his daughter and wife.
In 2019, when a fan asked him about his golf game in West Hollywood, California, his answer was straightforward.
“Um…non-existent,” Kim replied.
Finally, Kim returned in 2024 and joined the LIV Golf League. After failing to impress for a couple of seasons, he finally won it this year.
Analyzing Anthony Kim's LIV Golf Adelaide Win
Anthony Kim played a qualifying tournament just to play in this year's LIV tour.
Thankfully, it didn't go in vain, as Kim won the LIV Golf Adelaide with a special 9-under 63 in the last round. He beat the runner-up Jon Rahm by three shots.
Although scoring 67, 67, and 68 in the first three rounds was impressive, what Kim did in the last round was astonishing.
He scored four straight birdies on Nos. 12 to 15, before hitting another one in 17th. After he made a three-stroke lead going towards the 18th fairway, Kim enjoyed the roar of the crowd supporting him.
His team, the 4Aces GC, secured a third-place finish, behind Rahm's Legion XIII and Lucas Herbert's Ripper GC.
