While the rest of the golf world moved towards the analytics boom, one player steered clear of it.

In January 2025, Nelly Korda opened up about not favoring a data-based understanding of the game. When Gary Williams asked her about it on 5 Clubs on Golf Channel, Korda made her perspective clear.

"I think it makes me a lot more technical. I have a TrackMan, I dont use it. I have a Quad. And I don't really use it. They just sit pretty in my garage." With 15 LPGA wins, Nelly Korda has been one of the great golfers. That somehow proves that she is on the right track.

Nelly also explained what motivates her and why relying on metrics pulls her away from the instinct-driven style. Nelly Korda plays for feel and not runs behind the data analytics.

She wants to picture the shot, not calculate it. As she put it, “I don’t want to lose my feel, and how I envision the shots,” and the reason is clear. Once the numbers or data take over, she says, "I lose my 'feel' feel, and that's not how I play and not how I was raised."

While talking to Gary Williams in the same podcast, Korda puts it well, "I've always been the type of person that's like, I want to envision my shot, I want to envision what I see."

And in 2025, she didn't change her approach. Though she didn’t pick up a trophy, she was steady almost every week.

It clearly shows that her game doesn’t depend on numbers. And she kept things simple; see the shot, trust the swing, and feel the golf.
