“Not How People Want Me To”: Charley Hull Once Admitted She Refuses to Be PR-Filtered

Golf often rewards polish. Charley Hull chose honesty instead. Hull appeared on the Sky Sports Golf podcast in September 2025, where she spoke about her approach to life and the game.
During the conversation, Hull explained that she does not try to shape herself around expectations.
"If I want to say something, I’m going to say it. You can advise me not to say it, but if that’s what I think, I’m going to say it. At the end of the day, you only live once, and I live my life the way I want to live it, not how people want me to,” said the winner of the 2025 Kroger Queen City Championship.

Well, Hull has always thought outside the box when it came to how she approached the media. Right from smoking, alcohol, to talking about her marriage and her opinions on social media, she has always come out and said it openly. This was also evident in her comments about not practicing golf.
Instead of structured golf-focused sessions, she treats training as a personal interest. Her time is spent running, lifting, and doing conditioning work, which she sees as more engaging and sustainable.
Hull also explained her view on why big personalities benefit the sport. She had once discussed how boxers trash-talked each other. "Have you ever seen boxers in their fights and stuff? I know they probably go too far sometimes with the trash talking, but you’re getting people to listen, and they do silly things, but it gets people talking and watching the fights."
Charley Hull Has Been Vocal About Dealing With Critics
Hull also explained that she does not let criticism faze her.
"At the end of the day, if you are in the public eye, you’ve got to accept everyone’s allowed their opinion. You’re allowed a good opinion and a bad opinion [of me]. And you’ve just got to be strong-minded enough to laugh at the bad ones and think ‘fair pay’ to the good ones."
Now, Hull will be headlining the field at the Ladies European Tour season at the PIF Saudi Ladies International next week before kicking off the Honda LPGA Thailand on February 19th.
