“Not Just a Scientific Robot”: Bryson DeChambeau Shows Emotional Side After LIV Golf Win

Mar 23, 2026, 5:22 PM CUT

Bryson DeChambeau’s emotional post-victory speech after capturing his second consecutive LIV Golf title on Sunday revealed a side rarely seen, shedding the ‘scientific robot’ persona to speak candidly about personal struggles and his late father.

He beat Jon Rahm in a playoff after both finished at 26-under. It gave him two wins in a row, after winning in Singapore the week before, something he hadn’t done since 2018. But when he spoke after the round, the score didn’t seem like the most important thing anymore.

"It's time for people to see that I'm not just a scientific robot guy," Bryson DeChambeau said.

"I care a lot. I have a lot of passion."

He didn't stop there and also acknowledged that the week had been shadowed by personal difficulty, some of which he was willing to share, and some he wasn't.

"There's just a lot going on," Bryson DeChambeau said. "A lot has happened in my life in the past week. I wish I could tell you guys, but I can't."

He spoke about his father more than once. DeChambeau, who lost his father, Jon, in 2022 after a long illness, said the biggest thing he learned from him was to never give up, and that mindset helped him get through the toughest moments on Sunday.

$4 Million Win Sets Up a Dream Run for Bryson DeChambeau Heading Into Augusta

The win gave DeChambeau a $4 million prize and now sends him to Augusta National in strong form after back-to-back victories.

"I love everybody for it, and I love my team for it," Bryson DeChambeau said. "It's just been tough. Life is not easy sometimes."

His words made it clear this wasn’t just about golf—it was something far more personal.

Bryson DeChambeau also credited his team, Crushers GC, for supporting him through a difficult week off the course.

That momentum puts him in a strong position heading into Augusta, carrying both form and perspective from a week that clearly meant more than just another win.

With two straight wins behind him, all eyes now turn to Augusta—where Bryson DeChambeau arrives with both form and something deeper driving him.
