Cameron Young finished 19-under, six shots clear of world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, and never once looked rattled at Doral. So when the PGA Tour asked him postgame what made him happiest on Sunday, the answer was not what anyone expected.
Victory ranked second on his list of highlights. The PGA Tour posted a video on X on Sunday asking Young to walk through his top three, and his family came first.
"Number one, getting to see my family at the end of the day," Young said. "I didn't know if they were coming down, but getting to see my wife and my kids at the end of the day. That was a big one."
His professional achievements followed his personal ones. "Number two, probably winning the tournament," he said.
And third, sleeping in his own bed that night.
Young had just outplayed the best player in the world across four days at Doral, and the scoreboard was still only the second-best part of his Sunday. Young closed with a 4-under 68, his lead never seriously threatened. Ben Griffin was third at 12-under.
Young also called a one-stroke penalty on himself during the final round. His ball moved at address on the second hole fairway. He made par anyway.
"Your heart sinks when you see it move," Young said. "But it moved. That's part of what golf's about. No one's going to give me a penalty there but myself."
Cameron Young's Second PGA Tour Win of 2026 Comes With a $3.6 Million Payday
The Cadillac Championship was Young's second PGA Tour victory of 2026. His first title of the year was the Players Championship, which paid out $4.5 million.
The $3.6 million payday was his second-largest, earned as rain-softened conditions at Doral lowered the average score to 69, but Young still dominated the field.
Scheffler finished second for a third straight start. His previous finishes were behind Rory McIlroy at The Masters and Matt Fitzpatrick at Hilton Head, but even that was not enough to faze Young.
Donald Trump watched much of the final round at Doral alongside family members and gave Young a thumbs-up, followed by a handshake when it was over.
"He's nothing if not a very, very interesting man," Young said. "He's very powerful, and it's an honor to get to play in front of him."
