Cameron Young has played 36 holes at Trump National Doral this week, made one bogey, and carries a five-shot lead into the weekend.

The 28-year-old is 13 under par through two rounds at the $20 million Cadillac Championship, back-to-back 64 and 67 on the Blue Monster. The golf has been clean, and the composure has matched it.

Young was asked on Friday about the cushion sitting atop the leaderboard. His answer said everything.

"I feel like I've been around the lead quite a bit," Young said. "I'm not particularly uncomfortable. I've liked this golf course thus far. And so that being said, I'll take whatever advantage you're gonna give me."

The course was tough for him. On the 18th hole, his second shot hit the bottom of the stands and ended up stuck in a mess of cables behind the green. He took a drop, chipped it close, and still saved par.

On the 13th hole, he already knew halfway through the roll that he didn’t like his birdie putt.

"I was absolutely disgusted about halfway there," Young said. The ball dropped anyway.

Nick Taylor, Alex Smalley, and Jordan Spieth are all tied at 8 under, five shots behind the leader. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler shot a clean 67, but he didn’t move up much and is still seven shots back at 6 under.

"I definitely need to not get further away," Scheffler said.

Young heard all of that, and it's only making him more alert going into Saturday.

Friday morning was a warning. Kurt Kitayama shot a 64, and Sudarshan Yellamaraju shot a 66 in calm early conditions.

Both moved quickly up the leaderboard before most players had even started their rounds. Nick Young saw it all happen as it unfolded.

"There's a lot of guys right there, four or five back," he said. "I'm sure somebody will be four-under through five tomorrow. So you just kind of have to be ready for that and go from there."

He has been in this position before. Young won The Players Championship six weeks ago, which was the biggest win of his career. If he wins on Sunday, it would be his third PGA Tour victory in nine months.
