Old Teammates, Long Roads, Faded Bags, and Now Paired Together as Pros

Two former college teammates are taking the Korn Ferry Tour by storm. Hunter Eichhorn and Tyler Leach, both Marquette alums, found themselves paired together in the Bahamas this week.

The story was shared by Monday Q Info on X on January 13.

"I’ve tweeted a bunch about Hunter Eichhorn... had never been on airplane before getting to @MarquetteMGolf but became a standout player there.

Eichhorn is from Carney, Michigan, located near Upper Lake Michigan. It's an area that has snow for seven months a year. And heading into Marquette, the biggest concern for him was the adjustment to urban life. But he quickly put them to rest with a Big East Player of the Year in his freshman year. But he wasn't alone.

"Tyler Leach grew up on a course his family owned. A little 6,000 yard course in Wisconsin that costs less than $30 to play. Yet he too made it to Marquette and became a standout player... Neither of them should have made to pro golf, but against those long odds they did... And today after both playing the first 36 in 12-under they are paired together in the third round."

Both players competed in the Q School final stage. Eichhorn and Leach both had scores of 62 and 63, respectively, two of the lowest at the event.

Now, they're competing in the Bahamas Golf Classic at Atlantis on the Korn Ferry Tour from January 11-14. It's the perfect stepping stone to going professional. Hunter Eichhorn posted a 7-under 65 in the third round, placing him in his highest position through 54 holes in a Korn Ferry Tour event.

In contrast, Tyler Leach carded a 1-over 73 in the third round after opening the tournament with a hole-in-one in the first round.

Hunter Eichhorn and Tyler Leach share a lot of admiration for each other

After finishing his final round at Q School, Leach immediately asked about his friend's performance.

"When I got done with my round, I asked my wife (Abby), 'Hey, how did Hunter play?' and she said 'Oh, he won!' and I said 'No way! That's awesome! But at that point, I didn't know I had won or was going to win. Once I finally realized it, I'm like 'What a day to be a Golden Eagle!'"

Hunter also praised his partner's performance. "He's been playing some great golf the last few months; it's great to see. Obviously, to do what he did on the back nine (Friday) was truly special. I don't even know how to put it in words."
