Patrick Reed Cracks OWGR Top 20 as PGA Tour Re-Entry Suddenly Looks Too Real

Patrick Reed has returned to the top 20 of the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time since 2021 after a three-week stretch of results on the DP World Tour following his exit from LIV Golf in January.
Over the last three weeks, Reed has recorded two wins and one runner-up finish.
Patrick Reed won the Qatar Masters on February 8, finishing at 16-under and winning by two shots after making three birdies on the back nine of the final round, defeating Calum Hill by two strokes.
Speaking about his Qatar performance, Reed said, “It wasn’t looking very good there on the front nine. To lose the lead like that, then to be able to flip the switch there on the back nine obviously felt amazing. I love the way the game feels.”

Before that, Reed finished second at the Bahrain Championship after losing in a playoff. Earlier, he won the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on January 25, finishing four shots ahead of Andy Sullivan.
As a result, he now leads the Race to Dubai standings, where the top 10 non-exempt finishers earn PGA Tour cards. At the same time, this run has pushed him back into the world’s top 20 and kept him eligible for major championships this season.
Meanwhile, his long-term plan is centered on returning to the PGA Tour through the DP World Tour pathway.
After the Dubai win, Reed confirmed on January 28 that he would not re-sign, choosing instead to pursue PGA Tour reinstatement while building status through DP World Tour results.
Patrick Reed’s route back to the PGA Tour depends on eligibility rules
Reed plans to reinstate full PGA Tour membership starting with the 2027 season.
Unlike Brooks Koepka, who returned through the Returning Member Program, Patrick Reed did not qualify because he did not win a major between 2022 and 2025.
However, since he resigned his PGA Tour membership before joining LIV, he can compete as a non-member starting August 25.
Reed has been cleared to enter the Genesis Scottish Open in July 2026 through DP World Tour membership, as the event is co-sanctioned.
This would be his first appearance in a PGA Tour-related event since 2022.
