The PGA Tour has officially announced a new home for The Sentry for 2027 following the cancellation of the 2026 edition due to a water crisis in Hawaii. The event had already been slated to leave its previous venue, and its next destination has now been confirmed.
On Monday, the Tour revealed that Sentry Insurance will become the title sponsor of the annual event at Torrey Pines in San Diego, which will now carry the name The Sentry.
"For 75 years the PGA Tour has hosted elite competition in San Diego, including the last 60 at revered Torrey Pines, and we are proud to build upon that legacy and longtime philanthropic impact with our partners at Sentry Insurance," TOUR CEO Brian Rolapp said in a statement.

"We are pleased to have the support of Sentry and the Century Club of San Diego to further grow what fans and players have long recognized as one of our game’s most celebrated venues and events," he added.
The Sentry will be played from Jan. 25-30, 2027, marking the event's 60th anniversary at Torrey Pines. Previously known as the Farmers Insurance Open, the tournament was most recently won by World No. 6 Justin Rose by seven strokes and will follow The American Express on the PGA Tour schedule beginning next season.
“We’re honored to continue investing in the game and creating experiences that bring together players, fans, partners, and communities,” said Sentry CEO Pete McPartland.
McPartland further stated that they intend to work “closely with the San Diego community to shine a spotlight.”
The event was first played in 1952 as the San Diego Open and has been held annually since 1968. The Century Club of San Diego will manage the event as Sentry Insurance deepens its ties to the Tour.
The Sentry Insurance and the PGA Tour: A History of Support
Sentry CEO Pete McPartland has always been open about his commitment to the PGA Tour. When LIV Golf came around, Sentry was there to assist the tour.
“We stepped up without wanting any help or subsidization,” McPartland said. “We just did it because it was the right thing to do. We asked ourselves what we would want if we were Jay Monahan. I would want a sponsor to step up and be counted on in that moment of time.”
In 2022, McPartland contacted commissioner Jay Monahan to extend their two-year sponsorship pact into a decade-long deal.
Moreover, in response to LIV’s lucrative contracts for its players, Sentry agreed to help fund the signature event purses of $20 million.
The Torrey Pines sponsorship reinforces Sentry’s role as a primary supporter during Tour transitions.
