It's official! Joel Dahmen has a spot at the WM Phoenix Open. However, it wasn't a normal process at all.

According to Colt Knost, he wrote the request on a polo shirt, and the exemption was granted.  On Jan. 30, 2026, tournament chairman Jason Eisenberg announced the decision.

Meanwhile, Underdog Golf confirmed Dahmen’s participation via X, sharing a screenshot of Dahmen’s Instagram story, where Dahmen wrote, "Proud of this week, & excited to go to the home game. Thanks to @thunderbirdcharities and @wmphoenixopen... Yes @coltknowst was right. I put the letter on a polo and took to their office. Let's have some fun next week."

As part of the announcement, Joel Dahmen, Sahith Theegala, and Charley Hoffman received exemptions for the event. It will be held from Feb. 2–8, 2026, at TPC Scottsdale.

Chairman Eisenberg explained the decision. "Sahith’s history at this tournament speaks for itself, Joel is one of the TOUR’s most popular and authentic competitors, and Charley’s long-standing connection to both WM and this event makes this a special group to welcome back to TPC Scottsdale."

Arriving with momentum, Dahmen has made a solid start to the 2026 PGA Tour season.

Dahmen enters the tournament with momentum from a solid start to his 2026 season.

His first top-10 finish in 19 starts came at the Farmers Insurance Open on Feb. 1, 2026. Despite starting the final round in second place, a 1-over 73 dropped him to T7 at 14-under par.

Earlier in the season, Dahmen entered the year with a conditional status. This followed a No. 122 finish in the 2025 FedEx Cup Fall standings.

Before that, Dahmen competed at The American Express from Jan. 22–25. He finished T38 with a total of 16-under par.

Because of the Torrey Pines result, Dahmen moved into the Aon Swing 5 projection. This increased his chances of qualifying for the upcoming 2026 Signature Events.
