PGA Tour Pro Stays Unsatisfied Despite Approval From His Inner Circle

Billy Horschel may be ahead of the restoration timetable, but he is not satisfied at all. This PGA player confesses he still doesn't have the feeling of being fully himself.
Speaking about his progress on this Monday edition of 5 Clubs with Gary Williams, Horschel said muscle endurance remains the main challenge.
He also revealed that two microfractures are still healing, a process that can take up to two years.
Physically, the hip itself is no longer the main concern. “The hip itself is really good. I'm way ahead of schedule from everyone I talk to,” he said.

Coaches and medical staff have reassured him that his progress is strong, but Horschel isn’t satisfied with timelines.
“They keep reminding me how far ahead of schedule I am. But in my mind, I'm never satisfied with being ahead of schedule. I wanted to be completely 100%, and we're pretty close to being there,” he said.
The next step is regaining full power. “Now it's just getting the explosiveness out of that hip and the lower body to be back to where I was before the hip surgery.”
Horschel, however, argues that progress alone is insufficient. He explains that the return to the game is only half-done until he has a total sense of self again.
Billy Horschel’s 2026 Season So Far
Billy Horschel’s 2026 season has started with a steady stretch of PGA Tour events. He works his way back to full fitness after hip surgery.
So far, he has played the Sony Open in Hawaii, the American Express, the Farmers Insurance Open, the WM Phoenix Open, and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. His best finish was at Pebble Beach where he finished at T48.
There have been a couple of missed cuts along the way, but the main focus has been on rebuilding endurance.
Initially, he carried out his routine West Coast swing with events in Palm Springs and Torrey Pines, where the long days and a lot of walking have challenged his recovery. Horschel is playing at PGA National's Champion Course for the Cognizant Classic and maintaining the streak well.
Instead of rushing back with a heavy schedule, Horschel has taken a gradual approach, using regular starts to get closer to full strength as the season goes on.
