Right now, 82-time PGA Tour winner Tiger Woods is recovering from a October 2025 lumbar disc replacement surgery. As he eyes a possible return at the 2026 Masters, Wood remains as relevant as always.

On Tuesday, the PGA Tour shared a tribute video on X, with the caption: “Where were you in the 90s?” From there, the conversation quickly shifted to what Tiger Woods meant during that decade.

Woods first made his mark as an amateur. He won three consecutive U.S. Junior Amateur titles from 1991 to 1993. After that, he won three straight U.S. Amateur titles from 1994 to 1996. In the same year he turned professional, he also won the NCAA individual championship at Stanford.

After turning pro in 1996, he won two PGA Tour events in his first seven starts and was named Rookie of the Year. Then in 1997, he won the Masters by 12 shots at 18-under par. That win made him the youngest champion at the event, and he reached World No. 1 within a year.

Then in 1999, Woods won eight PGA Tour events, including the PGA Championship, his second major title. In the same season, he became the first player in PGA Tour history to earn more than $6 million in a single year. He also ended the season on a four-tournament winning streak.

Because of that run, the tribute connected with the fans. Many responded by recalling that period and how they watched it unfold.

Fans React to Tiger Woods Tribute With Emotion and Memories

As the tribute circulated, fans began sharing immediate reactions. One response focused on the scale of the video itself, writing, “Might be the greatest video ever made.”

Some reactions reflected early exposure to the sport through Woods. One fan shared, “Coming out of the womb, but I definitely remember Tiger Woods being the first sports athlete I was introduced to 🏌️‍♂️.”

At the same time, a few responses pointed to the emotional impact of the tribute. One comment read, “Alright, but don’t make me cry.”

Others kept it direct and tied to the moments shown in the video. One fan wrote, “Most epic I have seen…”

Some responses focused on his amateur achievements. “Winning the three junior ams and then ams in a row is mentally insane. Probably his greatest achievement.”
