President Donald Trump Once Named His Favorite Golf Courses Among His Own Properties

Mar 25, 2026, 7:28 PM CUT

Golf has long been part of Donald Trump’s daily routine, and over time, this connection has also extended into a global portfolio, as he owns 17 golf courses. Last year, he revealed his favorites among them.

With golf courses across the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom, it was surprising to see that both of President Trump's favorites were from the same country.

From this portfolio, Trump selected his favorite courses in 2024 during a video with two-time major winner Bryson DeChambeau.

“Well, Aberdeen is so incredible," Trump said while travelling in the cart. "Turnberry’s rated number one in the world.”

Both these courses are unique in their own way. They both reflect how golf is played, organized, and remembered at a high level.

At Trump International Scotland, the Old Course is set on links land shaped by dunes, and the MacLeod Course, opened in 2025, adds a second 18-hole layout on the same site.

The venue has moved into tournament golf, hosting the DP World Tour Scottish Championship in 2025 and staging senior events, with another scheduled on the new course.

At Trump Turnberry, the Ailsa Course has a record of hosting The Open Championship, including the 1977 match between Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus, and the 2009 playoff involving Watson and Stewart Cink.

Other winners at the course include Greg Norman in 1986 and Nick Price in 1994. The property also includes the King Robert the Bruce course and a 9-hole layout.

This connection between his courses and tournament play also extends into the structure of professional golf, where his role now links different tours and events through meetings and hosting rights.

Donald Trump and His Involvement with the PGA Tour and LIV Golf

Donald Trump’s involvement is also seen in how his properties and presence connect with professional events and discussions across tours.

In February 2025, he hosted a meeting at the White House with Jay Monahan and Yasir Al-Rumayyan, and others to discuss a possible agreement between the two circuits, where his role was acknowledged during the talks.

His courses are also part of the tournament schedule, with the PGA Tour returning to Trump National Doral for the Cadillac Championship in April–May 2026, while LIV Golf is set to hold an event at Trump National Golf Club, Washington, D.C., in May 2026.
