Sergio Garcia has had a rough start to the season. However, with a few changes, the Spaniard appears to be back on track.
Garcia entered the 2026 season after a strong performance last year. He won the LIV Golf Hong Kong event in 2025 and led his team, Fireballs GC, to three consecutive titles.
“Yes, but more than anything, I'm comfortable with my swing, or I'm getting more comfortable with my swing. At the end of the day, if you can have the best, perfect equipment in the world, but if you're not feeling it, it becomes a little tricky,” said Garcia.
The improved comfort with his swing appears to help him regain confidence after an inconsistent start to the season.

Currently ranked 31st in the individual standings, Garcia has struggled for consistency this season, with his best result being a T8 finish in Hong Kong alongside a T17 in South Africa.
“Obviously after the Masters and in Mexico already, I did little tweaks here and there with my setup and the way I was in front of the ball. It definitely -- I started feeling a little bit more comfortable. I felt a little smoother. Obviously I still need to keep improving on that, but it's nice to see some good golf and hitting the kind of shots that I want to hit. So I'm proud of that,” Garcia added.
Garcia’s appearance at the Masters Tournament made headlines for the wrong reasons. The 2017 Green Jacket winner received a Code of Conduct warning after smashing a tee box with his driver and eventually breaking the club.
T52 and T39 finishes at Augusta and Mexico City, respectively, added to his early-season struggles. However, he is currently off to a strong start in Virginia.
Garcia addressed the growing uncertainty surrounding LIV Golf’s future.
Garcia’s Take On LIV Golf’s Future
With the PIF’s withdrawal, LIV Golf appears to be at a crossroads.
The league is currently searching for alternative long-term funding while continuing to work with Ducera Partners LLC as its investment banking advisor.
“We are pretty confident LIV is not going to go away, so that kind of takes some of the things away. You know if it happens, I have options,” Garcia said.
LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil has also stated that the season will continue at “full throttle” while the league works toward a “multi-partner” business model.
“I don’t know if it will be PGA Tour or European Tour but there is plenty of options out there for me or pretty much all of us. We will all be fine,” Garcia added.
