Joel Dahmen did not plan to become one of the central figures of Netflix’s Full Swing. However, once the series aired, he quickly drew attention across the PGA Tour.

His conversations on camera, along with his connection with caddie Geno Bonnalie, gave viewers a closer look at his life in professional golf. As a result, many began to associate him with an “everyman” image.

“I would say popularity definitely rose post-Netflix,” Dahmen said on Trey Wingo and Trey Wingo Golf yesterday. “Life has been pretty busy since then. If people are going to want me on their show and think I have something slightly entertaining to say, then I want to squeeze in some time and try to have some fun.”

The PGA Tour pro admitted the exposure brought opportunities. It also brought scrutiny.

“There were a few moments after Netflix came out that we were a little more popular than we probably thought we were going to be,” he told Trey Wingo. “We may have questioned some of our decisions at that time. But overall, it’s been a fun ride," added

Yet season two captured how poorly, while becoming more recognizable didn't help his rankings. Meanwhile, the third season followed his fight to retain his Tour card.

Joel Dahmen Talks About Navigating 2026 With Conditional Status

As of February 2026, Joel Dahmen does not have a full card on the PGA Tour.

Dahmen managed to hold onto his place on Tour in 2025 after finishing 124th the previous season. It was close, but it was enough to stay in the mix.

He wrapped up the 2025 season at No. 122 in the FedExCup standings. However, with the Tour’s updated rules, only the top 100 players keep full exemption. That leaves Dahmen in conditional status heading into the next stretch.

Because of that, players ranked between 101 and 125, including Dahmen, do not get automatic entry into several larger non-major and non-signature events.

Those tournaments tend to fill up quickly with higher-ranked names, which means he now has to plan his schedule carefully and wait for opportunities to open up.

Yet, Joel Dahmen remains optimistic.

"My number gets pushed down, and I don’t get to participate in those. But for the most part, I’m still going to have plenty of opportunities. I’m going to play 21, maybe even 22 or 23 events this year. I think I played 27 last year," said the golfer

"So there’s still plenty of opportunity, I just have to earn my way into those big events versus having automatic access to them,” he added.
