Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts announced his retirement at the end of 2025. However, he couldn't stop himself from returning to the course for long, as the 43-year-old is set to make a temporary comeback for a DP World Tour event this week.

After a 25-year career, Colsaerts decided to hang up his clubs at last year’s FedEx Open De France, which took place in October. Prior to his retirement, the Belgian golfer revealed that he wanted to have 500 appearances on the DP World Tour.

Colsaerts fulfilled his goal before retiring and said, “I’m pretty at peace because it’s [retirement] something that I’ve been thinking about for a few years. It’s not a decision that I took overnight…”

However, the Belgian is now set to appear at his 505th event on the DP World Tour. His temporary return will take place in his home country at the Soudal Open 2026.

As his debut was in 1998, Colsaerts’ return will make sure that the veteran becomes a part of the European golf’s top circuit for 28 seasons in a row.

“25 years is a long time. Yes, I’ll be the first one to admit it, I could have done a lot better. I could have probably won about ten or 15 times on Tour. I probably had what was required.”  Colsaerts added.

The 43-year-old has three wins on the DP World Tour and was close to winning a lot more titles. However, Colsaerts clarified that he “had a lot of fun in the last 25 years” and ended his journey “with not as much regret as a lot of people might think.”

The three-time winner on the DP World Tour joined LIV Golf’s broadcasting team following his retirement. Now, with an open week on the LIV schedule, Colsaerts will take up on the tournament invite and feature on his home soil for the return.

A strong contender on the DP World Tour, Colsaerts had notable performances in other tours as well

Colsaerts’ Notable Performances On Different Tours

Colsaerts has a total of 10 professional wins in his career, with the latest coming in 2019.

At Le Golf National, the Belgian secured the Amundi Open de France with a score of 12 under par. He edged Danish golfer Joachim B. Hansen by one stroke to lift the title.

Before that, Colsaerts won the Volvo China Open and Volvo World Match Play Championship in consecutive years, back in 2011 and 2012.

The Belgian’s performance at the 2012 Open and 2013 US Open was also commendable as he finished T7 and T10, respectively. In May 2012, he reached his career-high world ranking of 32.

One of his biggest achievements was making the 2012 European Ryder Cup team as a captain’s pick. It was a famous victory as Europe defeated the US with an incredible comeback.
