The 15-time major champion will turn 50 on December 30. As the season concludes, it's safe to say Woods had a tough run, health-wise and career-wise.
Here is a look back at the pro's 2025 season.
Tiger Woods’ health and schedule in 2025
Woods’ 2025 season began on a difficult note as he withdrew from the Genesis Invitational in February following the death of his mother, Kultida Woods.
“I planned to tee it up this week, but I’m just not ready,” Woods posted on social media.
“I did my best to prepare, knowing it’s what my mom would have wanted, but I’m still processing her loss.”
In March 2025, Woods ruptured his Achilles tendon, which led to his absence from all four major championships: the Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and The Open Championship.
On October 10, 2025, Woods underwent lumbar disc replacement surgery for a collapsed disc. It came after a microdecompression back surgery in September 2024, marking his second back operation in a span of 13 months.
Due to these injuries, Tiger Woods also skipped the year-end events, including the Hero World Challenge and the PNC Championship.
Forced to slow down
Woods discussed the status of his game on December 2 during a pre-tournament press conference at the Hero World Challenge. He arrived at the event that morning.
Although he was not competing, he was involved in sponsoring and organizing the tournament, and he spoke with reporters at the press conference.
Woods stated that he had undergone multiple surgeries during the year and had been cleared to only chip and putt.
“I just got cleared last week to chip and putt," he told reporters.
Speaking about his disc replacement in October, the 82-time PGA Tour winner shared
“I just started this process," Woods said. "A disc replacement takes time. It's longer – it's not as long as a fusion, thank god, but it's going to take time."
Tiger Woods’ Champions Tour Plans
While Tiger Woods has not yet finalized his playing schedule, he may later compete on the Champions Tour 2026, which is designated for players aged 50 and above.
“I really haven't gone in-depth of what the schedule looks like on the Champions Tour except for a few tournaments,” Woods said during the press conference.
No matter which tournament Tiger Woods chooses to make his comeback in, it will be a treat to watch. What are your predictions?
