Eric Cole was set to win his first PGA Tour title at the Charles Schwab Challenge on May 31 at the Colonial Country Club. However, Russell Henley birdied the last three holes to force a playoff, which he won. Along with the title, Henley received a custom car.

Besides the 1.78 million prize money, Henley received the Colonial’s Leonard Trophy and the iconic Scottish Royal Tartan Plaid jacket. However, what stole the show was the 1982 Schwab Jeep Scrambler the he also drove home.

As part of a May 19, 2026, press release from  Charles Schwab, Managing Director and Chief Marketing Officer, Stacy Hammond, unveiled the car in the iconic blue.

“[The] spirit of innovation and accessibility remains core to who we are today, and we’re proud to celebrate such a defining moment in our industry with the one-of-a-kind custom '82 Scrambler,” she noted.

This is the eighth year of Charles Schwab as the title sponsor of the Colonial Club event. Every year, except 2020, the company has given a custom car to the champion. This time around, Henley received the 1982 Schwab Jeep Scrambler.

The custom 1982 Scrambler came with a 4L / 485HP HEMI crate engine with a 4L80E four-speed Bowler automatic transmission.

The leather interior with Colonial royal tartan inserts adds a unique touch to Henley’s car. All the prized cars are “Schwab blue” and possess tartan upholstery in some way.

2020 was the only year when the champion, Daniel Berger, did not receive a car. Instead, the car funds were donated to COVID-19 relief.

With the win, Henley went home with a lot more than the 500 FedEx Cup points.

However, the result was a heartbreak for Eric Cole, who was so close to his first PGA TOUR victory.

Eric Cole On Missing Out On The Opportunity At Colonial

Eric Cole led at the end of the third round and had also gotten off to a quick start in the final round.

However, a bogey on the fourth hole and a double-bogey on the ninth allowed space for the other contenders to close the gap. That’s exactly what Henley did.

“Yeah, I mean, it’s very disappointing. Obviously. I felt like I played pretty well today for the most part. It’s a tricky course, and hung pretty tough when I did miss a few shots today. So yeah, it’s disappointing, but I played well, and I’m proud of that,” Cole said after the event, per CBS Sports.

Henley shot three straight birdies at the end to force a playoff with Cole. In the opening playoff hole, he did the same and secured the title.

This was Cole’s third runner-up finish in his PGA career, and the quest for his first PGA Tour victory continues.
