World No. 15 Sam Burns has earned about $40.7 million on the PGA Tour since joining in 2017, with five victories and 46 top-10 finishes helping fuel that total across 197 starts.

Financially, the 2022-23 season was his best, as he earned around $7.14 million.

The World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play was the primary reason behind that feat, as he earned roughly $3.5 million from the win.

Shortly behind comes the season prior to that, 2021-22. Three of his five wins came during that season, and he earned close to $7.07 million overall.

Wins at the Sanderson Farms Championship, Valspar Championship, and the Charles Schwab Challenge secured him nearly $4.1 million, while seven other top-10 finishes also contributed heavily to his earnings.

Although Burns hasn’t recorded a win in the last two seasons, or this season yet according to the PGA Tour website, the 29-year-old has earned between about $5 million and $7 million in each campaign.

The runner-up finish at Shinnecock Hills earlier this month earned him around $2.43 million, accounting for nearly half of his earnings this season.

Last year and the year before that, he finished tied for second at the RBC Canadian Open and the BMW Championship, which helped him add roughly $2.57 million to his career earnings.

With the help of his first Valspar Championship win in 2021, Burns earned about $5.16 million during the 2020-21 season.

Burns has a long career ahead of him and will look to add further to his earnings.

At Shinnecock Hills earlier this month, the 29-year-old delivered his best major performance to date.

Burns came close at the U.S. Open

Burns, in back-to-back years, came agonizingly close to securing his first major title at the U.S. Open. At Shinnecock, he started the final round seven strokes behind 54-hole leader Wyndham Clark. However, by the end, he had reduced the deficit to just one.

"To have the chance on 18, I really thought I made that putt," Burns said, as per ESPN. "I hit it exactly how I wanted with the speed I wanted and just didn't go in. But I'm really proud of the way we played today." 

At the final hole, Burns could have tied Clark but missed a crucial putt and fell to his knees. Despite the agony, the five-time PGA Tour winner still came away with his best major finish.

Last year, Burns was the 36-hole and 54-hole leader and carried a one-stroke lead into the final round. However, a difficult final day at Oakmont saw him finish tied for seventh at 4-over, five strokes behind winner J.J. Spaun.
