Scottie Scheffler Didn’t Bring His Trophy on a Flight With Bryson DeChambeau and Tony Finau Once; Here’s Why

Scottie Scheffler became one of the modern greats after winning the British Open for the first time in 2025 and his 4th major title. However, he wasted no time and flew to New York for the Happy Gilmore 2 premiere.
When asked on the “Pardon My Take” podcast whether Scheffler flew with the Claret Jug trophy,
He replied,
“Um, I did not bring it on the plane. It went underneath the plane.”
But why didn’t he?
“It was—we rode over with Bryson and Tony Finau, so I didn’t really feel like I should be just bringing the plane.”
Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, and Tony Finau were a part of The Open Championship 2025.
Scheffler dominated and won the 2025 Open Championship by 4 shots. DeChambeau and Finau came up short, with T10 and T56 positions, respectively.
After hearing Scheffler’s explanation, Daniel Katz, the co-host, responded,
“That’s nice of you [Scheffler].”
Scheffler’s personality has always been praised by his fellow competitors.
“I think it’s more so the difference in personality from any other superstar that you’ve seen in the modern era and maybe in any sport. I don’t think anybody is like him,” said Jordan Spieth, former World No. 1.
Scheffler, DeChambeau, and Finau were flying to New York together.
Let’s know more about that.
Golf Stars Who Were Present at the Happy Gilmore 2 Premiere Other Than Scottie Scheffler
“We actually had to catch a flight to get to New York to get to the Happy Gilmore 2 premiere because that was, uh, we had planned on that all along.”
Scheffler, DeChambeau, and Finau—all three of them had cameo appearances in Happy Gilmore 2.
They walked the carpet at the premiere at Lincoln Center, New York City.
The premiere on July 21st, 2025, was filled with golf personalities. Colin Morikawa, John Daly, and Fred Couples were the other big names present.
“But they had a blast. We had so many professional golfers and legends of the game come out to be in the movie, and I think people will be really surprised by how much they’re in it,” remarked Chad Mumm, co-producer of Happy Gilmore 2.
